Transmission Poles

Our wooden treated poles are prepared in terms of the SANS 754/753 mark scheme. All our wooden poles are currently of South African origin. The following species are found in South Africa and are used for transmission-, telecoms-, agricultural-, building- and fencing poles application:

All transmission and telephone poles are tested according to the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) specification to withstand a fibre stress (in bending) of 55MPa (or 75 MPa so if required).The average moisture content may not exceed 25% and in the individual pole exceed 28% at the time of treatment. The preservative may be creosote or CCA that complies with the SABS specifications. Retention of creosote is a minimum of 115kg/m³ for Eucalyptus species. The minimum depth of solid penetration depends on the hazard class and is 15mm for poles in direct contact with the ground.

We supply our customers with standards size and diameter transmission and telephone poles and also customized sizes and diameters according to the client’s needs. Eucalyptus: cloeziana, grandis (saligna), grandis/saligna hybrids, maculate, maiden, microcorys paniculata and saligna.
